Implementation of Value added Tax needs culture developing
Mr. Mohamad Azad, head of Iranian Trade Unions (syndicates) said that:" trade unions quiet agree with VAT Act and VAT rate. The Iranian National Tax Administration should publicize this widely and precisely."
IRNA reporter quoting the Iranian Tax Media on Sunday said that Mr. Azad has declared that necessary measures regarding VAT have been taken and trade unions are quite satisfied with the VAT rate. He also added that the Act should be enforced in Iran just as in other countries.
Referring to the need for developing tax culture he suggested the Iranian Tax Administration do precise culture developing and improve public awareness of the tax by asking public opinion regarding this.
He then added that precise publicity and culture developing will make the execution of the Act much easier.
He also declared that the VAT rate has been reduced to 1.5 and the introduction date shall be 22 th of September year 2008(First day of Mehr 1387). He also noted that trade unions have special methods concerning VAT and considering the agreements reached and signed between trade unions and the Iranian National Tax Administration, they consider implementation of VAT as a duty.
